Inbande porcelain Porcelain ware which has repeated designs is named as inbande
in Japanese and it means stamped or impressed. Inbande is
normally applied in under glaze blue color by the different printing
methods. Earlier inbande method is a stencil method known as
surie : the color was applied through the cut design of
the stencil paper- katagami which was hand cut and treated with persimmon juice. Other older
method is called konnyakuban.
Konnyaku is a type of Japanese jelly like food product made of
konnyaku potato. Possibly they used a rubber like stamp to
repeat the motif or the design. More modern transfer ware method was introduced from the
